Colorno, October 7, 2026. Gomax presents
Quadra HPSteel, the new range of flexible thermoplastic hose assemblies specifically engineered for
CO₂ (R744) subcritical and transcritical refrigeration systems.
Designed to operate under the demanding pressure and temperature conditions of CO₂, Quadra HPSteel brings flexible thermoplastic hoses into the
core of the refrigeration circuit, including compressor discharge and suction lines. The new range can also be used for connections to pressure gauges and pressure switches, as well as oil return lines.
By replacing rigid tubing with flexible lines,
Quadra HPSteel can help
simplify installation while reducing the transmission of vibrations and mechanical stress from the compressor to other system components. Its flexibility also provides greater freedom in
routing lines within confined spaces inside refrigeration units, without the need for tube bending, welding or brazing operations.
The complete range covers
six sizes, from DN2 to DN12, with a working pressure of up to
130 bar (1,900 psi) and a burst pressure of
650 bar (9,500 psi), with a 5:1 safety factor. The operating temperature ranges from
-45 °C to +150 °C (-49 °F to +302 °F). DN2 and DN4 feature a synthetic braid reinforcement, while sizes from DN6 to DN12 use a high-tensile steel braid designed to provide high mechanical strength and resistance to kinking.
Quadra HPSteel has been tested under operating conditions typical of CO₂ refrigeration systems to verify performance and reliability. The inner tube material underwent
thermal conditioning at 150 °C for several months, with no signs of degradation. Compatibility with refrigeration oils was evaluated through immersion in
POE and PAG oils at 150 °C, monitoring dimensional variation over several weeks. In addition, a DN6 hose bent to its minimum bend radius successfully exceeded
250,000 pressure cycles up to 143 bar at 1 Hz with oil at 150 °C.
Quadra HPSteel is supplied exclusively as
factory-made hose assemblies, allowing hose length and fitting configuration to be tailored to installation requirements. Carbon steel fittings feature
zinc-nickel plating for enhanced corrosion protection. Salt spray testing according to
UNI EN ISO 9227 showed oxidation effects only after more than twice the exposure time required for standard zinc-coated fittings.
With the full range now available from DN2 to DN12,
Quadra HPSteel provides refrigeration system designers and OEMs with a flexible solution developed specifically for the pressure, temperature and mechanical requirements of modern CO₂ refrigeration units.
